Ms. Bento Stainless Lunch Box by Zojirushi

"Not Your Ordinary Brown Bag"
(Reviewed By Yvonne N. of Berkeley)*

Jessica came by and I said, "Let me show you this bento box!" She squealed, “I want two – where can I buy it???”

I took it out of the box and looked at all the different components. You have to read the instructions very carefully for best results. If you don't read Japanese (like me), you will want to use the instructions in English :)

My first thought was that the soup dish was kind of small, but it held my miso soup. I put rice and chicken the second section and my vegetables in the third section.

Carefully following the instructions, I warmed both the soup and middle section with hot water before use and then I put in boiling miso soup and warm rice.

I was very happy to be able to fit my bottled water inside the lunch bag!

I would say that it was about 4 hours from the time I packed it until the time I opened and ate my lunch. The rice was just fine but the soup needed to be microwaved for a second or two (because I like it really hot).

I thought the heat traveled the top so the vegetables were just a little lukewarm. Overall, I thought it was great.

Perfect for mothers with elementary school-aged children.
It’s a little expensive but I think it will last a long time and is definitely worth the money!

* Bento is my life!!

For the best prices...Asian markets, or Amazon.com.

In San Francisco and surrounding areas here's a list of stores that carry a variety of Zojirushi products:

Really, really nice. I have an old stainless steel style stacked bento box that is not thermal - so this is something to really think about getting. It would be great for a day when you just like to go sit by the water or in the park to watch the sunset while having a warm meal. Me, myself, I will probably be carrying beans and rice and cornbread or shredded BBQ, warm coleslaw, a bun and baked beans in mine:)!
