"Mr. Sick Stuff, Who Do You Think You Are?"




They say sharing is caring.  Except when it's a cold or flu.

Honestly, the boss might not mind because she can close her door.  But, the rest of us in the office pool, mind very much if you cough, snort, sniffle, blow your nose and generally wreak havoc and germs throughout our common areas.

You put your germs all over the copiers and surfaces and then before you know it, the entire office is falling like dominoes.

We all want to enjoy the holiday season and get through the winter months, relatively healthy.

So, if you wake up with a scratchy throat, coughing, sneezing and generally feeling bad - take two personal days and call us when you're better!

A healthy worker is a happy worker.

I agree 150%!!! Any co-worker who is so insensitve to his/her colleagues should be approached by the Office Manager and offered an isolated space or welcomed to use sick/annual leave until he or she is no longer a health risk to the rest of the staff. Support staff is not at liberty - in most office settings - to go into his/her enclosed office, close the door, communicate via phone or email or better yet, work from home his or her support requests. Therefore, we're "stuck like Chuck" in contaminated work space remembering not to breath the air, nor touch the office coffee pot. Especially, in the current era of space-saving cubies and abutting workspaces that don't permit disinfecting with Lysol, it is poor office etiquette for an obviously contagious employee to force co-workers, one-by-one, or all at once, to getting sick over and over and over. I have developed a compromised immune system from years of exposure to unhealthy office spaces and my internist has specifically instructed me to avoid a cougher/sneezer/nose blower with obvious flu-like symptoms, like the plague, rather than risk catching a cold,flu, pneumonia, or bronchitis. Please know, most serious offenders would not appreciate the same treatment from others.
